New Yammer Connector in Groups and Teams

A number of new Connectors have appeared in my tenant sometime recently, of great note is the Yammer connector which seem to have some really good flexible options to configure. Good job all!

Cool, Steven! Mind sharing how you are thinking of leveraging these connectors? I'm thinking of hacking topics a bit by picking up any post with a given topic and tossing it over to a group (via the group's email address) using Flow. I've always wanted topics to work as they were intended to.

Topics are a great use. I think my first use will be to put keyword monitoring in the hands of groups like marketing who've been asking for it but I've not been able to deliver without giving them admin rights or using outlook rules to forward keyword alerts to them.

People using Outlook Groups or Microsoft Teams are generally less likely to be very active in Yammer, I think allowing them to subscribe to announcements will allow us to post business unit wide communications in one place and have confidnece that people who select other types of collaboration can also see them.

Tracking keywords for groups that are experts should be useful as well, so a food technologist team responsible for certain products can pick up on when they are mention by our retain colleagues.

Is this new functionality in the group admin page? Is it a separate app? I'm not seeing it yet.

We would like to also see a direct connection between a group id and a Microsoft Team group as a tab.  The current configuration is better suited for Twitter than Yammer.

Simon, have you verified if this is true "keyword monitoring" or when they say "keyword", do they mean topic/tag?

We have an audience that's having a hard time adopting Yammer, but has embraced Teams quickly. The problem is that Teams doesn't solve a key business problem for this group: cross-team visibility and conversations. So, my plan is to configure this connector to send announcements and other important posts (by keyword) to these Teams to prompt moving to Yammer for broader conversations.

I'm hoping that when public Team groups are rolled out, it will support our Work-out-Loud culture that we've cultivated over the past 3 years.

When that happens, I pray that the functionality promised at Ignite is rolled out to Yammer (still the poor cousin).

I have setup the Team's to Yammer connector, but I am having some issues as on Yammer post are ever displayed in Teams. Does the connector only work with certain SKU's of 0365 or is the other configuration required apart from the inital teams connector setup.

I think at the moment the Yammer Connector only supports displaying announcements in Teams, is there a possibility to display any activity done in a Yammer Group (e. g. Posts, Polls, etc. ) in Teams?

That would be duplicating the feed rather than trying to redirect people from one tool to another. If you want the whole feed, you should just add a tab with the group you want. Configure the connector for announcements (or a hashtag) to provide reminders that the tab is there for the full feed.
