Can you confirm that Microsoft will really, for sure, cut off Microsoft Security Essentials malware signature updates after January 14? Even if you’re paying for Extended Support?

@Woody_Leonhard MSE will continue to receive signature updates after Jan. 14.

Will Microsoft Security Essentials continue to protect my PC after end of support?

Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) will continue to receive signature updates after January 14, 2020. However, the MSE platform will no longer be updated.

But:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4527878/faq-about-extended-security-updates-for-windows-7

"No, your Windows 7 computer is not protected by MSE after January 14, 2020. MSE is unique to Windows 7 and follows the same lifecycle dates for support."

So, was that, very misleadingly, just referring to the "MSE platform"?

@Brian . Thanks for pointing this out. I'll get this corrected as soon as possible.

And to be clear, you aren't paying for extended support. ESU is extended security updates only, not support. Purchasing ESU does not constitute a support contract.

@Woody_Leonhard the change request was submitted yesterday. It could take a couple of days for processing.
