To bring full functionality of Microsoft Teams into GCC High, we are pleased to announce the availability of Bots and Message Extensions in Teams for GCC High.

A bot (also referred to as a chatbot or conversational bot) is an app that runs simple and repetitive tasks by users such as customer service or support staff. Interactions with bots can be quick questions and answers, or complex conversations. Message extensions allow the users to interact with your web service through buttons and forms in the Microsoft Teams client. They can search or initiate actions in an external system from the compose message area, the command box, or directly from a message. You can send back the results of that interaction to the Microsoft Teams client in the form of a richly formatted card.

This long-awaited capability will enable your organization to leverage a conversational chatbot interface with third parties as well as internally developed custom Bot and Message Extension applications. To allow both Bots and Message Extensions to communicate with external endpoints, we are allowing users to opt-in through our UX.

Here is the progress we have made and what will be coming soon to our Government Cloud customers.

Enabling Bots will extend your system boundary beyond this tenant based on the Bot you choose to leverage. It is your responsibility to make sure this meets your compliance requirements including FedRAMP, DFARS, ITAR, etc. It is your responsibility to evaluate the risk and compliance of any endpoint and/or URL that you connect to.
