Gonzalo here. We are pleased to announce you that the newest version of FSLogix is available now. We are including several fixes, but also including new features. Here is the list of the changes included:

 

  • Various updates were made to improve login time.
  • Fixed an issue where users could fail to login if a VHD network location was unavailable.
  • You can now increase the size of an existing VHD(x) by updating the SizeinMB setting.
  • The RefreshUserPolicy setting can now be managed via group policy template (ADMX).
  • The Installed Version of FSLogix is now written to the registry (HKLM:Software\FSLogix\Apps:InstallVersion).
  • Fixed an issue where Type4 printer drivers worked after initial configuration, but not subsequent sessions.
  • Orphaned/corrupt NST files are now cleaned up along with OST files.
  • Resolved a Cloud Cache bug where a second machine accessing the RW disk gets permanently locked out.
  • Fixed an issue compiling AppMasking rules with a destination in HKCU.
  • Fix an issue where FSLogix could cause a deadlock and prevent user connections.
  • Fixed various issues that could crash the FSLogix service.
  • Resolved an issue causing frxshell to not launch on non-English systems.
  • Fixed an issue where the RebootOnUserLogoff and ShutdownOnuserLogoff settings were ignored.

Hi Gonzalo,
it will be my first time to update the FSLogix on Azure Virtual Desktop.

can I run the installer on the existing FSLogix that is a proper way to update it? 

and we have many session hosts in a host pool, so all need to update same time or we can slowly update one by one?

FSLogix team, I am looking at migrating from Citrix UPM to FSLogix. The profile management solution has so much promise. but...

 

I have come to the conclusion that using the cloud cache across multiple data centers is not feasible due to the size of the profiles. I am considering a single profile location using a DFS share with replication. That is testing for later.

 

For now, I am seeing logon times get progressively slower as the profile size grows and grows. A new profile started around 300MB and has now grown to almost 8GB in a few hours with just Outlook (1month OST file), Teams and some browser usage. There are numerous articles on compacting the VHD/VHDX files.

 

Two questions:

Why are the profile containers 2x or 3x times the actual usage? Can't you keep the "empty" space cleared?

If the first option to just keep the profile container size in line with the actual profile size, why not have a built in option for VHD/VHDX compaction?

 

There is absolutely no reason to copy an 8GB file over the network if 5GB of it is empty space?

Doubt you’ll get a reply on that, but no, the whitespace is simply never cleared up. I compact containers nightly, using Jim Moyle’s FSLogix shrink script with good success. They don’t recommend it, but you can also create a redirections.xml file to exclude certain directories form being retained in the container. If you run Teams, there are already some required folders that you should add, but are also others that many of us use to keep the size in check.

 

CPM is still faster in terms of logon speed, but not by much in our environment. With FSL, you want super fast storage - flash, ideally - otherwise you’ll see that slowness creep up. Our logon times are just under 35 seconds in total for a new profile creation, and around 20 seconds for subsequent logons.

 

You might want to look at Bvckup 2 for replication, as opposed to DFS-R.

Where else do you have to write, that someone will take care of the critical problem. I don't understand why this is so difficult for you.

This issue has been escalated to Microsoft technical support and is now waiting on action plan from Microsoft.

A lot of Microsoft customers have been affected by this issue and a lot of tickets have been opened on the same. My ticket has been open since Jan 29th as a critical ticket. I have performed very thorough testing, took verbose traces and carried out all actions requested by MS FsLogix support team, to no avail. For some reason they are very slow in responding. The support team is having discussions with the FsLogix product group team but they have yet to provide a clear and conclusive update on how the issue will be fixed. All evidence so far points to a potential software bug but I have not yet received official confirmation on this from the technical support side, despite my numerous emails to the escalation team. Hopefully there will be action from the Microsoft side soon, since this is affecting a growing number of customers and production environments worldwide.

Now some people are abandoning your product. But we have 500 users and don't want to migrate back to UPD.

We are still experiencing the Local_username keeping a handle open on Credential folder (Thus causing the fun black screen experience... until we reboot the rdsh). Additionally we have aad/ssso configured and have times where users login but no 365 apps are able to connect.

Here one of the developers gives a temporary solution and says that the fix will be in November.

Hi @vara93. Did you open the support ticket as we requested? Every environment is completely different and while there are solutions that can be widely applied, many times it is not the case. Please go ahead an open a support ticket so we can troubleshoot the issue you are facing.

Get busy, everyone who uses your product has this problem. Stop saying everyone's infrastructure is unique. I got Outlook hung up and ended my session and couldn't log in again. I did dumps, but you don't care. You don't want to do anything.
