Hi guys, im new in the comunity (first post) so, sorry if this is not the right area for my question. Im new to Microsoft certifications and im a littlebit lost.

I decided to pursue the MCSE cert in the Cloud/Azure area, first I read online that is about 7 exams for MCSE but looking at the Microsoft Certifications website looks like is only 3-4 exams. Also I read somewhere that in order to get the MCSA I need to have the MTA but now reading at Microsoft certification website looks like not because says "Possess introductory IT skills through existing knowledge or optional MTA Certification" . I been working in the industry for about 10 years and also posses the CompTia A+, Network+ and Security+, so I guess I dont need the MTA?

I also read somewhere that having A+ and Net+ helps with the credits, but help for the credits towards MCSA or MCSE? how that works?

Im trying to define the path of exams/study I have to take and im just trying to avoid lost time or take exams I dont need.

I appreciate your help and clarification, thanks in advance.

MTA is Optional.

The official requirements for that exam are at https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/learning/mcse-cloud-platform-infrastructure.aspx. You need to pass 2 exams.

1st  - get an MCSA - there are 4 options for that

2nd - pass any one of the 10 optional exams

You will then have earned the MCSE: Cloud Platform and Infrastructure.

Expect it to be challenging.

Additional Azure exams are at https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/learning/browse-all-certifications.aspx?technology=Microsoft%20Azure

Hi Mr. Dean Gross,

I was wondering if I could ask your advice.  I'm currently looking for a Microsoft Certification course that would be best suited toward placing me on a path or aligns with SharePoint development and building SPFx App Part (Web Parts) for SPO and Office 365.  My manager wants me to get MS Certified while selecting a path that best suits that type of development.

That sounds like you will want to start with https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/learning/mcsa-web-applications-certification.aspx then move on to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/learning/mcsd-app-builder-certification.aspx. Depending on you level of experience you may actually want to start with https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/learning/mta-summary-certification.aspx

Microsoft has retired their SharePoint specific developer exams.

There are many good free courses at https://mva.microsoft.com/  and @Andrew Connell has a great course on SPfX at https://www.voitanos.io/

You will also want to get familiar with the Patterns and Practice guidance (PnP) at https://dev.office.com/patterns-and-practices

Appreciate the callout on my SPFx course Dean!

Thank you for the quick response, Dean.  Greatly appreciated!  ;)
